Community Update - Lockdown Explanation:
On Thursday, April 18, at approximately 2:20PM a local resident, adjacent to CPS/CES, was attempting to kill a snake in their own backyard using a firearm. The sound of gunfire caused obvious alarm, resulting in a school-wide lockdown. Calhoun Police, partnered with other local agencies, had a swift and immediate response to the event and are currently addressing the actions of the individual. At this time, the school is on a regular dismissal and there is no threat to student safety. We thank our school officials and local law enforcement for their constant support of our students.

CCS Event Cancellations & Weather Advisory: Calhoun City Schools is closely monitoring an approaching storm system in our area. As a precautionary measure, all CCS events scheduled for tonight have been canceled. Optional after-school practices may proceed, but must conclude no later than 5:30 PM to ensure the safety of families ahead of the anticipated weather event, expected around 7 PM. The afterschool KEEP program will operate until 6 PM. Normal school operations will resume on Wednesday, April 3, 2024; however, we will continue to monitor the weather overnight and into the early morning hours. Please prioritize safety and exercise caution during this projected weather event.
